What We Took For Granted
What We Took For Granted
Lauren Gardner

We complained about the work
Some teens stayed inside
We went to stores without masks
And now we look like we’re in disguise
One day we were at school
For the next month we went online
Those movie and mall trips
Weren’t a waste of time
Spring plans erased
Life changed and it was all so fast
Yeah, school work was a pain
We wanted one day off, Never this to really last
We can’t hang out with friends
Or go out too much anymore
Missing the idea of choice
After all this distancing I won’t want to be a bore
It feels we took the great outdoors for granted
And now we see at what cost
Phones and gadgets are now needed
Staying inside for years was really our greatest loss
